The Hongkong Beetle Project is an attempt to sample the diversity of Coleoptera in semi natural parts of Hongkong, as the basis for monitoring and conservation. The sampling consists of transects at four major sites (Ma On Sha, Say King, How Tau, Shing Mung Country Park). Sampling in each plot includes Flight interception traps, Pitfall, Malaise and Berlese sampling of soil arthropods. Sampling has been conducted in the summers of 2017 and 2018. Approximately 200000 beetles in 1200 species have been obtained.
